Five Sisters Zoo gives update on adorable new wildcat kittens and reveals their names

A popular zoo has just given an update on two adorable new arrivals.

The Five Sisters Zoo announced that it has welcomed two new Scottish Wildcat kittens to the fold.

The sanctuary in West Calder, near Livingston, gave an update via social media on the pair, who take the number of kittens born this year to three, and revealed their names.

The zoo team stated that they have both been health checked and microchipped and revealed their names - Arran and Jura.

Speaking for the zoo, supervisor Adele Copland said: "We are delighted with the birth of another two male Scottish wild cat kittens here at FSZ. Our first wildcat kitten born in April was named Harris after the isle of Harris, so we thought it was only right we carried on this theme.

"We have decided to name our new additions Arran and Jura."

The pair, who were born in September, will now join big brother Harris and parents Morag and Fletcher in the main enclosure.

The sanctuary is one of a number of different wildlife collections that collaborates in order to ensure the long term survival of this population.

One of the carnivore keepers Gary added: "Scottish Wildcats were declared functionally extinct in the wild back in 2018 and so every birth in the breeding program offers a lifeline for this fragile population."
