Five Sisters Zoo announces return of Christmas Illuminations & Autumn Nights events as softplay reopens

A zoo in West Lothian has just announced the return of its popular late-night events as well as the reopening of its soft play area.

The Five Sisters Zoo, in West Calder, stated that its Christmas Illuminations and FSZ Autumn Nights are back by popular demand after being cancelled last year due to the covid restrictions.

Set to be "bigger and brighter" than ever before, the late-night events will see a series of display lighting, enchanted walkways, illuminated water fountains and musical lighting shows for families to enjoy.

Posting that the "fun doesn’t end when the sun goes down", the team stated on their social media that early bird tickets for the shows will go on sale on Friday, August 13.

Described as a fun family event, guests can enjoy toasted marshmallows around the zoo's fire pits and sip on hot drinks as they wander around the displays.

They confirmed that the FSZ Autumn Nights' new spectacular lighting event will be returning from Saturday, October 22 – Sunday, November 14 (every Thursday – Sunday) 6pm to 9pm.

While the ever-popular Zoo Christmas illuminations will return on Wednesday 1st December to Thursday 23rd December (every Wednesday – Sunday) 5pm to 9pm.

A spokesperson for the zoo said: "There will be thousands of beautiful lights gently illuminating our animal enclosures and gardens to create, what we believe to be a truly breath-taking experience.

"Guests can also take a stroll through our spectacular life sized animal themed lanterns."

The news comes as the zoo also announced the return of their Leaping Lemurs soft play centre, with 90-minute bookings now available.

The FSZ team posted on Facebook: "Our time-slots for the play frame will be 90 mins long with entry and exit at specific times to allow for the frame to be cleaned/sanitised and for the building to be ventilated. All bookings must be made via our online booking system."
