Five signings that could give Jurgen Klopp his dream Liverpool summer transfer window

While the summer transfer window is still a few months away, Liverpool clearly already have an eye on the business they will hope to complete.

The Reds have already been credited with a host of potential new signings months before the window even opens. Jurgen Klopp is likely to want several new additions to his squad after a disappointing campaign.

Liverpool have several players set to leave the club as free agents. One of them is Roberto Firmino, who will depart after eight years at Anfield.

Elsewhere there are the likes of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who are all out of contract at the end of the season. It remains to be seen with absolute certainty whether any of them will sign an extension between now and the end of June.

As a result, midfield is the area of the pitch where the majority of the transfer rumours are concentrated. And it’s no secret that Jude Bellingham is a player of interest to Liverpool.

The Borussia Dortmund talent is one of the most sought after players across Europe at the moment. The likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Manchester United have all been credited with an interest in the midfielder, but he would no doubt be a dream signing for Klopp.

Another midfielder linked with Liverpool is Mason Mount. The Chelsea star is rumoured to be a player on the move in the summer, given his current contract situation.

With his deal set to run out in 2024, Chelsea could look to sell in the summer. But whether Liverpool would be an option for Mount himself or the London club is another matter.

Barcelona star Gavi would also be a dream signing for Liverpool, albeit a difficult and unlikely one to get over the line. His contract situation at the Nou Camp is not certain, with La Liga reportedly nullifying the extension which made him a first-team player in January.

As a result, his previous youth-team contract was set to run out this summer, and in theory he could depart as a free agent. There is plenty to be resolved with his situation, but Liverpool would be wise to keep an eye on out if one of the most talented young midfielders in Europe could become available on the cheap.

Defence has also been rumoured to be an area that Klopp could look at this summer. And the most sought after centre-back at the moment seems to be Josko Gvardiol.

The RB Leipzig defender impressed at the World Cup with Croatia, and as a result is attracting interest from across Europe. A move this summer would not be cheap for Liverpool, but that’s why it’s classed as a “dream” signing.

And with Firmino heading for the exit door, there are questions over whether the club will look for a replacement. While these rumours are relatively quiet at the moment, if the Reds do opt to sign a striker then there is one that is an ideal candidate.

Napoli star Victor Osimhen has been one of the form strikers in Europe this season with his performances in Serie A and the Champions League. He has also been linked with Manchester United over the last few months.

Again, were Napoli to let Osimhen leave this summer, the transfer fee would be a significant one, to say the least. As a result, he fits into the category of a “dream signing” for Liverpool.
