Five people were hospitalised after a four car smash on the M60. The crash happened on the clockwise carriageway near Eccles at about 5pm, with two people having to be cut from their car by firefighters.
There were seven casualties in total, with five people requiring hospital treatment. Motorists have experienced long delays this evening as police, the fire service and paramedics work at the scene.
One lane of the motorway remains closed between junctions 11 and 12, with traffic backing up to the Trafford Centre. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Shortly before 5pm on Saturday 19 November, firefighters were called out to a road traffic collision on the M60 between junctions 11 and 12.

"Four fire engines from Salford, Leigh, Farnworth and Irlam attended the scene where four vehicles had been involved in a collision. Fire crews used cutting equipment to free two people trapped in a vehicle and they were then both taken to Royal Salford Hospital via ambulance.
"There were seven casualties in total, with five making their own way to hospital. Fire crews also administered oxygen therapy and helped assess casualties at the scene and were in attendance for one hour and ten minutes."
