After weeks of temporary closure due to the coronavirus, many shops in Liverpool will be back open from Monday.
Stores in Liverpool ONE, the Metquarter and across the city centre will welcome back customers having not been able to open since mid-March during the lockdown.
This week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed that his plan to reopen stores from Monday, June 15 would definitely go ahead providing shops put safety measures in place to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Now, Liverpool Council has launched a Love Your Liverpool campaign, urging people to do their bit to shop safely and consider others.
People are being reminded that while shops will be back open, things will be different.
Shoppers are being asked to ‘be patient’ as queuing may take longer, to ‘be responsible’ to keep everyone safe, and to ‘be kind’ to one another, as we’re all in this together.

Shoppers are also being asked to follow five simple rules when they enter the city centre. There will be signage in place to remind everyone of the guidelines.
Five rules everyone shopping in Liverpool from Monday must follow
- ‘Keep left’ on pedestrianised streets
- Use allocated queuing zones outside of shops
- Respect one-way systems where walkways aren’t wide enough for two-way pedestrian traffic
- Only go in a lift with people from the same household – this means lift queues will be likely
- Socially distance wherever possible – this includes keeping your distance from staff inside shops
We will have live coverage as the shops reopen on Monday across Liverpool, so be sure to follow what’s happening with us here on the Liverpool Echo What’s On and on our What's On Facebook and Twitter accounts.
