Five restaurants, a spa and a casino! See the luxurious cruise ship that has arrived in Tyneside

With its five restaurants, spa, library and casino, this magnificent ship is turning heads on Tyneside.

The 181m-long Nautica, operated by American cruise line Oceania Cruises, sailed into the Port of Tyne terminal in North Shields on Monday.

Its passengers, mainly guests from the United States, will be visiting some of the region’s top attractions during their stay in the North East including Newcastle City Centre, Hadrian’s Wall, Beamish Museum, Alnwick Castle, Durham and Lindisfarne.

The vessel, which has 11 passenger decks, has recently undergone a multi-million dollar transformation. The video above shows the ship's arrival on the Tyne on Monday morning.

The Port of Tyne said: "Her decks are resplendent in the finest teak, custom stone and tile work, and her lounges, suites and staterooms boast luxurious, neo-classical furnishings.

"Nautica offers every luxury you may expect on board one of the world’s most luxurious cruise ships.

"She features four unique open-seating restaurants, a world-class fitness centre and spa, eight lounges and bars, a casino and 342 lavish suites and luxurious staterooms, nearly 70% of which feature private verandas."

Nearly 60 cruise ships are visiting the region in 2019. These are a mix of turnarounds, which start and finish at the Port of Tyne, and transit visits which add an estimated £56m to the regional economy through visitor spending each year.

In August, Cunard's Queen Victoria docked at the Port of Tyne, carrying 2,000 passengers.

The 294m-long ship had 12 passenger decks, a theatre, a ballroom, traditional pub, champagne bar and a club with a 270-degree view of the sea.

It also had a spa and gym, a pool, a large sunning area and an incredible 6,000-book library.
