Five Rangers players in World top 20 for stat that reinforces Premiership consistency levels

It seems the only thing Covid hasn’t stopped in its tracks over the last year is Rangers ’ relentless march to the title.

A first Scottish Premiership triumph in a decade was confirmed this month with Steven Gerrard’s side still unbeaten in the league.

The consistency the Ibrox side have shown has been remarkable and they’ve shown no signs of letting up with an unbeaten league season, the Europa League quarter finals and the Scottish Cup still in their sights.

The sheer amount of games they’ve won has them up their with anyone in the world, and that’s borne out by five of their players being in included in a global list of percentage of games won since 15 March last year.

The CIES Football Observatory has worked out which players have been the most successful in the league games they’ve started over the last year and the Scottish champions feature heavily.

Allan McGregor is fifth in the world with a win ratio of 91.3 per cent from the 23 league matches started in the last year, 21 of which ended in victory.

Steven Davis posts identical numbers with Joe Aribo right behind him at 90.9 per cent.

There’s a bit of a gap down to Connor Goldson in 17th. The defender has won 87.5 per cent of the league matches he’s started since 15 March.

Ryan Kent completed the top 20 with a win rate of 87.1 per cent and 27 victories in 31 starts.

The list is dominated by players from Rangers, Bodo/Glimt or Norway and Serbia’s FK Crvena Zvezda (red Star Belgrade in old money).

Players from the latter have the highest win percenratges, with Milan Gajic and Milan Borjan number one and two in the world for percentage of matches won when starting.

Bayern Munich are represented by Serge Gnabry in third and Joshua Kimmich, who joins Goldson on 87.5 per cent.

The only two players that feature who don’t play for any of the four clubs mentioned are SK Slovan Bratislava’s Vernon De Marco and and Baghdad Bounedjah of Al Sadd.
