Five Quinn executives warned their lives may be in danger by gardai investigating Kevin Lunney abduction

Five Quinn executives have been warned their lives may be in danger by gardai probing the abduction and torture of Kevin Lunney.

The company director was taken from his car near his home in Derrylin, Co Fermanagh, on September 23.

Mr Lunney was savagely beaten at a second location before being dumped at the side of the road at Drumcoughill in Co Cavan around 9pm the same night.

The Quinn Industrial Holdings chief had his leg broken, fingernails removed and his neck cut with a blade.

During the assault, Mr Lunney was told to resign from the firm along with his colleagues.

As a result of these threats, gardai and the PSNI have warned board members there is a “significant risk” to their safety.

Previous targets are being protected by officers as well as receiving safety updates.

There have been more than 70 reports of violence and intimidation against members of the Quinn board since 2011 yet no arrests have been made.

A priest last month described the attackers of Mr Lunney as an “obvious cancer of evil that needs to be exorcised before someone is murdered”.

Fr Oliver O’Reilly slammed the abduction as a “modern form of crucifixion deployed by terrorist groups such as IS”.
