Five products being urgently recalled by Tesco, Lidl, Morrisons, M&S and Waitrose over safety fears

A number of items are being urgently recalled by major supermarkets including Lidl, M&S, Tesco, Morrisons and Waitrose.

Affected items can be returned in-store for a refund after the Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned customers about a variety of goods, including ice cream and sausage rolls - as originally reported by KentLive.

The five items being recalled by the major supermarkets are listed below.

M&S cocktail sausage rolls

Pack size: 296g

Use by: January 10, 2022

The M&S sausage rolls have been recalled due to incorrect labelling.

A number of packs have been issued with a "use by" date of January 10, 2022.

It may be unsafe to eat as a result of the incorrect date.

Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all stores that are selling this product.

The advice from the FSA is not to eat the items if you have bought it.

The store said in a statement: "We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.

"For more information contact us on 0333 014 855."

Waitrose fish pie

Waitrose fish pie (FSA)

Pack size: 250g

Best before: March 2023

Allergens: Egg

Batch code: L1272

This item has been recalled as a result of a packing error in which some packs contain a beef lasagne with eggs as an ingredient that is not declared on the label.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg.

Waitrose is recalling the product from customers and will be contacting the relevant allergy support organisation.

They will then tell their members about the recall.

Waitrose said in a statement: "We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused."

Salmonella has been detected in these products, sparking an urgent recall.

Symptoms of food poisoning include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

If anyone has bought this item they are advised not to eat it and instead return it to the store.

No other Deluxe items have been affected by this recall.

Lidl said in a statement: "Lidl wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

"Any customers with queries or concerns can contact our Customer Services Team on 0370 444 1234 for the UK, 1800 20 10 80 for the ROI or 0800 051 63 63 for Northern Ireland."

Morrisons ice cream

This product has been recalled because it may contain bits of plastic, making it unsafe to eat.

A statement from the store says: "Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest Morrisons store for a full refund.

"We don’t need a receipt. No other products are affected by this issue.

"We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety."
