Manchester City midfielder Yaya Touré is one of five Premier League players who have been nominated for the Condeferation of African Football’s (CAF) Player of the Year award.

Touré, who won the award for third time in succession last year, is joined by Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor, Wilfried Bony of Swansea, Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie and Southampton’s Sadio Mané on the 25-man list.

Four Algerian players – Islam Slimani (Sporting Lisbon), Raïs M’Bolhi (Philadelphia Union), Sofiane Feghouli (Valencia) and Yacine Brahimi (Porto) – are also included after their excellent showing at the World Cup in Brazil where Lers Fennecs were beaten by eventual champions Germany in the last 16 after extra-time.

Meanwhile, murdered South Africa captain Senzo Meyiwa is one of 20 nominees for the African Player of the Year award for players still based in Africa.
