Five Plymouth shooting victims named by police including three-year-old girl

The five victims of Plymouth’s deadly mass shooting have been named by police including three-year-old Sophie Martyn.

Devon and Cornwall Police revealed the tragic victims' names tonight as they continued to probe the deadly rampage through the quiet cul-de-sac.

Our sister title The Mirror report how gunman Jake Davison, 22, killed five locals of Keyham in the horrific attack.

They have been named as the killer's mum Maxine Davison, 51, who was shot dead in her house and dad Lee Martyn, 43, and daughter Sophie, three, shot outside.

Dog walker Stephen Washington, 59, who was shot in a nearby parkland and Kate Shepherd, 66, shot in Henderson Place.

Davison went on a shooting spree through the neighbourhood, before turning the gun on himself, police said.

Two people remain in hospital after suffering "significant" injuries in Davison's Thursday night attack.

Apprentice crane operator Davison killed his first victim, reported to have been his own mother, Maxine Davison, before shooting dead the three-year-old and her father.

Using what was described as a “pump action shotgun”, apprentice crane operator Davison then shot Mr Washington, 59, in nearby parkland.

After shooting and fatally injuring Ms Shepherd in Henderson Place, Davison turned the weapon on himself, police said.

Both Mr Washington and Ms Shepherd were rushed to hospital for treatment, but could not be saved, the force added.

The force is looking at Davison’s social media output as part of the investigation as videos of the killer discussing the misogynistic “incel” movement emerged today.

Police issued a fresh statement on Friday night saying detectives are still working to understand what Davison's motives may have been.

In a July 28 video on his YouTube channel, where he used the name Professor Waffle, Davison said he did not have “any willpower to do anything anymore” and discussed the “incel” ideology.

In an 11-minute video, which appears to be the last posted before Thursday’s rampage, Davison refers to difficulties meeting women and struggling to lose weight.

He also claims that after working in scaffolding when he was younger, he was “never … the same again” after injuring his ankle.

It emerged today his mother had desperately sought help for him before his deadly rampage.

She begged the NHS to help the aspiring body builder, but was unable to get mental health help, someone connected to the family has claimed.

According to a friend of the family, concerns about his mental health had been raised to the NHS and police and they had begged for help.

"The NHS basically said that they are short staffed and that was it," the friend said.

Police also confirmed on Friday that Davison had a legally issued firearm, as questions arose around his access to the deadly weapon - described as a pump-action shotgun.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the issue of how the Plymouth attacker came to legally own a gun should be “properly investigated” as he described the shooting as an “absolutely appalling” incident.

Davison's online posting history included repeated mentions of women, 'incels' - involuntarily celibate people - and about believing that being ugly should be considered "a disability".

He stating that he believed that unattractive people "should get a payment every month for being short or not good looking".

He also posted repeatedly about mass shootings across the globe, and showed an interest in American gun culture and Second Amendment rights to bear arms.

After being asked why virgins were negative in one forum, Davison replied: "Try being a unemployed autistic poor sexually frustrated male with tons of health issues no social circle and being stuck in government housing with my disgusting abusive mother for years on end and having missed out on so much in life and then come back and tell me if your (sic) not negative."

He described himself as "still a male virgin" and that he'd "never had a GF" or "kissed a girl" and that he is "somewhat fat but I'm built six foot tall".

YouTube has since deleted his videos.
