Five planes seen flying in formation over Merseyside

Residents across Merseyside were struck by a group of planes - possibly Tomahawks - flying in formation and circling overhead.

One resident, who lives in Halewood Village, said: "They literally flew over our heads, circled around the houses and flew off towards Hale.

"They seemed to be in an arrow formation with the white plane and black jostling for position at the front.

"They looked very close from my garden. It actually looked like they were having a race."
