Five people were rushed to hospital today after an incident at the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny, Co Donegal.
Emergency services were contacted after a large number of swimmers reacted badly to the water at the leisure centre.
It is understood that three of the five swimmers taken to hospital were children.
Letterkenny University Hospital put a major emergency plan in place after they were contacted by staff at Aura Leisure Centre, who had everyone evacuate the pool.
A consultant in Emergency Medicine attended the scene along with the ambulance services and the fire brigade, a HSE spokeswoman told the Irish Daily Mirror.

The consultant triaged all those affected, and sent five to Letterkenny hospital for further treatment.
Nurses and other medical staff also arrived at the centre, treating other children for non-serious injuries.
Gardaí confirmed they were directing traffic in the area.
The hospital’s major emergency plan has since been stood down.

A spokeswoman for the Aura Leisure Centre told The Irish Daily Mirror: "A minor incident occurred at Letterkenny Pool this morning.
"In line with our safety policy our emergency procedures were put in place immediately, and purely as a precautionary measure the ambulance services were alerted.
"We are grateful for their prompt response. We have no further comment to make at this time."
