Five people rushed to hospital after crash in Elphin, Co Roscommon

Five people were rushed to hospital yesterday after a serious crash.

The collision, involving two vehicles, happened at around 12.50pm on Saturday at Ardleckna, Elphin, Co Roscommon.

Two women, aged in their 30s and 70s, had to be airlifted to Sligo University Hospital after suffering serious injuries.

Three men, two in their 30s and one in his 70s, were also taken to Sligo University Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

A Garda forensic team has carried out a technical examination of the scene and the road has since re-opened.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information about the collision to come forward.

They are asking in particular for any road users who may have camera footage and were travelling in that area at around 12.50pm.
