Five people rescued by fire service after getting stuck in apartment lifts

Fire and rescue crews were called after five people became trapped in a lift.

The incident happened in a Nottingham apartment building on Tuesday, January 7 at around 11pm.

A spokeswoman for the fire service confirmed the rescue took place at the Atrium, an apartment building at the Waterfront Plaza near Station Street.

One crew attended and used tools to release the five people within 20 minutes.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted: "11.19pm a crew from London Road Station used small tools to release five persons who were shut in a lift at a premise in the Waterfront area of Nottingham."

The fire service confirmed the incident was resolved at 11.38pm.
