Five people including young child hospitalised after horror crash in Dublin

Five people have been hospitalised after a car collided with pedestrians in Dublin this evening.

The collision happened at 6:40pm on Main Street in Malahide when a car with a man and woman, 80s, inside collided with two women and a child who were walking at the time.

The two women, aged in their 20s and 30s, as well as a child were taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment.

The occupants of the car were also taken to hospital - all the injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí attended a single car RTC that occurred in Malahide at approximately 6:40pm this evening 28/01/22. A car is understood to have collided with pedestrians on Main Street Malahide.

"A man and woman aged in their 80s (occupants of the car) and two women, one aged in her 20s and the other in her 30s, along with a juvenile were taken to Beaumont Hospital to be treated for their injuries which are understood to be non-life threatening.

"The road was closed for a brief period but has since reopened."
