Five people including a child have been transferred to hospital after a crash involving a tractor and a car on Monday evening.

The emergency services were called to Pharis Road near Armoy in Co Antrim on June 1 following reports of a crash, Belfast Live reports.

The incident, which is understood to have involved a family, was reported at 6.42pm on Monday.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service dispatched four emergency crews, three rapid response paramedics and one doctor to the scene.

The charity Air Ambulance with HEMS crew on board was also tasked to the incident.

A spokesperson for the NIAS said: "Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, two patients were taken by ambulance to Causeway Hospital, one were taken by ambulance to Antrim Area Hospital and one taken by Air Ambulance to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.

"The sixth patient was discharged at scene."

Police officers arrived a short time after the incident and cordoned off the road.

Phillip McGuigan, Sinn Fein MLA, told Belfast Live: "It's a horrific accident involving a car and a tractor.

"At this point, the whole community has their fingers crossed for the entire family and hope that everyone pulls through."
