Five people evacuated after car tears through Canberra home

Five people have been evacuated from a home in Canberra's north after a car tore through a garage wall, across a hallway and into an interior wall.

ACT Fire and Rescue was called to the home about 9:00am Saturday after the sedan ploughed into the house, completely blocking a hallway.

The Emergency Services Agency said the five people inside the home were uninjured in the crash and would be allowed back inside later today.

The driver of the car also escaped without injury.

Fire and Rescue crews remained on site to make the scene safe, but a spokeswoman said the damage was contained to the inside of the house and did not appear to be structural.

ACT Policing determined no drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, and a spokesman said no further action would be taken.
