Five open-air cinema screenings in Bristol Zoo Gardens this summer

If watching a good film surrounded by lions, gorillas and meerkats sounds like a dream come true then it is time to get excited.

This Summer, Bristol Zoo Gardens is hosting five open-air cinema screenings for all nature-loving film fans.

The big screens will be set up in the heart of the zoo, located in Clifton, with the help from Summer Screens who plan on playing family favourites including Bohemian Rhapsody, Mamma Mia and Jurassic Park.

There will also be a chance to see recent blockbusters such as the Oscar-winning Green Book and Black Panther.

The showings will take place from Wednesday August 28 to Sunday September 1 on the zoo's main lawn.

Beanbags and deck chairs will be available so audiences can relax during the viewing while enjoying BBQ food, snacks and refreshments.

Guest services manager, Tom Tanner, said there is "something really special about watching a movie in the open air, especially inside the zoo".

“The film screenings are the perfect way for families, couples and groups of friends to enjoy warm summer evenings in a unique and relaxing environment," he said.

Mr Tanner added staff are always on hand to make sure noise levels do not make the animal residents uncomfortable.

Tickets are expected to sell fast, according to the zoo, so they recommend booking early.

Prices start at £10.50 for children (5-17 years). People can also select single or double beanbags and deckchairs which guarantee a prime position and come complete with a complimentary drink, popcorn and chocolate.

Tickets provide access to the zoo; however animal houses will be closed so as not to disrupt evening routines. The event goes ahead whatever the weather.
