2 City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra
Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla made her headline-grabbing debut as the CBSO’s music director in August. For her first concert in the orchestra’s main season, she conducts Haydn’s Symphony No 6 ‘Le Matin’, Mahler’s First Symphony and the UK premiere of Raminta Serkšnytė’s Fires.

3 Don Giovanni
Oliver Mears’s final show as artistic director of Northern Ireland Opera (before he takes over at Covent Garden) is his Mozart production, first seen in Bergen last year. Conducted by Nicholas Chalmers, it’s revived with a strong cast, led by Henk Neven in the title role, with John Molloy as Leporello and Hye-Youn Lee as Anna.

4 Marvellous Miller
Jonathan Miller’s productions have been mainstays of ENO’s repertory for almost 40 years. The company celebrates his achievement with a one-off programme of excerpts from the most memorable examples.
5 Huddersfield contemporary music festival
Jointly opening the festival, the Arditti Quartet’s programme includes the UK premiere of Jennifer Walshe’s Everything Is Important, while the Ensemble Musikfabrik’s features a premiere from Georg Friedrich Haas.
