Five of Edinburgh's most 'unwanted homes' on sale that just won't budge

There are some Edinburgh homes that have been up for sale longer than others - and just won't budge.

While we've seen a surge in the housing market between buyers and sellers, some properties seem to be a bit more tricky to sell.

This comes as property experts ESPC report that the housing market is finally starting to calm down after the pandemic that saw an increase in buyers and sellers alike.

From new luxury apartments, to bungalows, and mansions, here are some of Edinburgh's most 'unwanted' homes which have been up for sale longer than others.

Craigentinny

It's been on the market for quite some time (Rightmove)

As previously reported, a property on Nantwich Drive joined the market in 2019 - and still remains there today.

The quaint bungalow boasts spacious four bedroom and a large rear garden - you would be forgiven for thinking it would be snapped up pretty quickly. It is on the market for offers over £399,995.

In terms of location, Craigentinny sits not too far from the city centre and minutes from Meadowbank. Describing the home, Rightmove said: "The property is brought to the market in good condition and briefly, consists of an entrance hall with storage, an extensive rear facing lounge with electric fire and dining area featuring sliding doors to a large garden.”

Marchmont is a desirable area and a newly-constructed fourth floor apartment has been on the market since June 2021.

The current owner is looking for offers over £400,000 and the property on Thirlestane Road, consists of three modern double bedrooms, a box room that could be used as a study, an open-plan living area and views of the castle.

Coulters Estate Agents add: "Situated in Marchmont, within the Meadows, Marchmont and Bruntsfield conservation area, the flat is ideally located for swift access to outstanding local amenities."

Innerwick House

For £5,000,000, an enchanting eight-bed Georgian mansion in Murrayfield has yet to be sold. Noted as 'one of Edinburgh's finest houses', its new owners would have a piece of local history.

The detached three-bed coach house is also included in the sale as well as delightful landscaped garden grounds and has been on the market since March 2022.

Keeping in line with the Georgian housing trends, McEwan Fraser Legal have been advertising a three-bed apartment since March 2022 that boasts a range of period features from the late Georgian era.

For offers over £450,000, the B-listed property on Queensferry Street in the West End boasts elegant living room and its new owners can enjoy views towards Edinburgh Castle.

Along with a spacious kitchen, the home also consists of three bedroom with the original shutters, and a bathroom.

Saughton

For those looking for a more contemporary and one-of-a-kind home, this could be for you (Rightmove)

For those looking for a new build, a contemporary four-bedroom property on Saughton Crescent has been on the market since March 2022 and is on offer for £665,000.

The new build offers a spacious home with contemporary features and the interiors have been finished to the highest standard.
