Five more people have died in Bristol hospitals with coronavirus, new figures have shown.
A total of 122 people have been recorded as dying with Covid-19 at hospitals run by the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust (UHBW) as of today (Friday, May 29), an increase of four.
There has been one further coronavirus death recorded as having occurred at the North Bristol NHS Trust, which runs Southmead Hospital, bringing their total to 114.
This means there have been five additional deaths since the figures were last reported by Bristol Live on Wednesday (May 27).
The recording process does not necessarily mean those deaths took place in those past few days however, just that the numbers have been added to the record on receipt of positive tests and records being updated.
UHBW trust, which manages Weston General Hospital, has not revealed the details of its Covid-19 death toll amid the recent spike in cases.
The hospital confirmed on Monday (May 25) it has “temporarily stopped accepting new patients”, even at its A&E department, due to a “high number of patients with coronavirus”.
It is still unclear how many of the 122 deaths happened at Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) and how many happened at Weston General.
Latest coronavirus figures
As of Thursday afternoon (May 28), statistics published by NHS England show the number of reports of cases in the city has risen to 698.
In North Somerset, cases have risen to 427 while in South Gloucestershire there has been just one new coronavirus case in the past two days, bringing the total there to 400 cases.
There are also 231 cases in the Bath and North East Somerset region.
