Five more coronavirus deaths at City Region hospitals

There have been five further deaths of coronavirus patients across the city region.

After yesterday's hopeful update of no more virus deaths in our area, today's report offers a reminder that people are still dying from Covid-19 in our region.

One of the additional deaths occured at the NHS Trust covering hospitals in St Helens and Knowsley while there was also a further death at the Southport and Ormskirk Trust.

And there were two further deaths of coronavirus patients at the Trust covering Halton and Warrington hospitals.

Once again today there were no deaths recorded at any of Liverpool's hospital Trusts.

The full numbers of deaths at all NHS Trusts covering our region are as follows:

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust - 4

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust - 4

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 19

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 462

Merseycare NHS Foundation Trust - 3

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust - 149 (+1)

St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust - 207 (+1)

The Walton Centre - 10

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 133 (+2)

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 235

NHS England said that a total of 50 further deaths had been recorded at its hospitals.

A spokesperson said: "A further 50 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 28,759.

"Patients were aged between 52 and 97 years old. Two patients, aged 52 and 63, had no known underlying health conditions.

"Their families have been informed."
