Five men arrested after armed brawl in Salford released on bail

Five men arrested after an armed brawl involving 20 men broke out in Salford have been released on bail.

GMP held the men, aged 44, 42, 40, 33 and 31, on suspicion of affray following the incident on Blackfriars Road on Friday night.

Police were called to reports of a 'disturbance' at about 10.15pm, and received reports of a shooting.

No injuries were reported, and GMP said they had yet to find evidence of a firearm discharge.

A large cordon remained in place yesterday, as officers from the force's Tactical Aid Unit conducted searches.

Weapons including a hammer and a knife were seized by police, as well as two cars.

Blackfriars Road remained closed off yesterday afternoon, as did neighbouring King Street and Garden Lane.

Searches were carried out around a building site where a new apartment block is being constructed.

Residents reported seeing armed police on Friday night.

Footage obtained by the Manchester Evening News shows the incident unfold in the street.
