Five members of staff at Irish Supervalu test positive for Covid-19

Five members of staff at a local Supervalu in Roscommon have tested positive for the virus.

The workers at Smith's Supervalu, Monksland received the positive tests in recent weeks.

The Musgrave Group who represent the shop confirmed to the Roscommon Herald that all other members of staff were tested.

The shop did not have to close and all guidelines were followed.

A statement from the Musgrave Group to the Roscommon Herald said: "Five colleagues have tested positive for COVID-19 and all close contacts are self-isolating.

"As a precautionary measure, all other colleagues at the store were tested.  We are working with the HSE and they have advised that the store can remain open at this time.

"We have been inspected by our local Environmental Health Officer, we remain in liaison with the HSE and will take any additional steps deemed necessary by the authorities,” the statement said.

“We have an extensive range of measures in place in this store and across our retail network to ensure that we are playing our part in stemming the spread of the Coronavirus such as the wearing of face coverings, introduction of plexiglass, additional sanitisation measures, monitoring customer numbers and social distancing measures in store.”

The Irish Mirror has also contacted the group for a comment on the matter.
