Five Manchester United players close to giving Ralf Rangnick a big problem

Manchester United's players are back into their groove with Ralf Rangnick's side unbeaten since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked after a 4-1 loss to Watford on November 20.

United have beaten Villarreal, Arsenal and Crystal Palace since Watford while they have also drawn 1-1 with title hopefuls Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Rangnick has a headache coming up for a busy festive period, though, with United set to play five Premier League games in 19 days beginning with Saturday's tea-time trip to Norwich City.

Five of his players are on the verge of one-match bans with the Premier League's yellow card amnesty after the 19th game, which is the December 27 clash with Newcastle United at St James' Park.

Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, Fred and Luke Shaw are all one yellow card away from a ban while Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire will be suspended if they pick up two yellow cards in any of the four games between now and Boxing Day.

Crucially, bans do not cross over between competitions so Wednesday's Champions League game is exempt from any Premier League suspension worries.

Of the players walking a disciplinary tightrope, there are no worries about Pogba because he remains out with an injury while Shaw has also been sidelined.

Fernandes, Fred and McTominay are the key concerns with the latter pair playing an integral role in Sunday's 1-0 defeat of Palace.

Rangnick will be keen for his players to avoid a ban with a sequence of matches that United should be able to get points from coming up before the year is out.

After Norwich, the Reds play Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Newcastle and Burnley.
