The continued improvement and rise of Phil Foden has left fans clamouring for the next Manchester City graduate to make the step into the first team.
As the next batch of talented youngsters edge closer to the senior side, it means City won't need to dip into the transfer market to plug holes in the first team, let alone the squad.
While not every player can have such an early impact as Foden, he is the poster boy of what the club have achieved in the younger years over recent times and will want more homegrown talent in the team going forward.
As the club continue to look within to solve any issues, here are five players the Manchester Evening News believes can help save City millions in transfer signings.
Samuel Edozie
Having made his first-team debut in the 1-0 defeat to Leicester City in the Community Shield, Edozie has yet to feature again for Pep Guardiola's side.
The winger featured alongside the seniors in pre-season which led to Guardiola saying: “He's an incredible young player, good pace. Be patient with him. With minutes they play good and this is important.”
Though he his behind Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden in the left-wing pecking order, there are doubts around Sterling's future and Foden can also be used centrally.
With that being the case, instead of the club looking to the window to bring in some depth, Edozie is all they need to cover going forward.
Liam Delap
Having spent the summer trying to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur and failing, it's likely City will try and bring in a striker over the next few windows.
In Delap, the club have someone who can save them the trouble of opening up their cheque book.
Guardiola's side don't look lost without a recognised number nine in the team and using the 18-year-old when the opportunity arises over the next few months, assuming he is over his injury problems, will allow them to not only see what they have in the striker but also save them money in the transfer window.
James McAtee
City's top scorer with 15 goals in as many appearances for the academy, McAtee is having a fine season as some of his U23 teammates have headed out on loan or been used by the first team.
With three hat-tricks to catch the eye, McAtee has been reportedly interesting the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool with his goalscoring exploits, so City will be looking to tie him down to a new deal to avoid losing him to a rival.
Comfortable in attacking midfield or up front, McAtee is one of many exciting attacking prospects coming through the ranks, and it won't be long before he's ready to follow the likes of Cole Palmer into the first team.
Ben Knight
Knight has been unable to make the most of his loan to Crewe Alexandra this season having missed a number of games due to injury.
But having started up front for City in the Community Shield, fans have already seen a glimpse of what he can do against Premier League defenders.
Like Delap, Knight could be the answer to City's problems when it comes to striker depth at the club going forward as he grows as a player this season and in the summer when he returns to the club.
Cole Palmer
The pick of the bunch on this list.
Cole Palmer has adapted to senior football with ease, having already grabbed a goal in the Carabao Cup and the Champions League this season.
The left-footed right-winger continues to impress every time he puts on a City shirt and will get more opportunities as the season progresses.
Any plans to bring in a right-winger, be it to start or for depth, should be shelved in order to allow Palmer to continue his rise to the top.
