Five teenagers from London have been charged with terror offences after allegedly planning to fight for Isis in Syria or Iraq.
The boys, aged between 15 and 19, were arrested on Tuesday following a series of raids across the capital by the Metropolitan Police’s counter-terror command.
The group, including four schoolchildren, had communicated their plans to each other online, the Evening Standard reported.
All five were charged with preparing terrorist acts, while a 15-year-old boy from Waltham Forest and 17-year-old from Houslow also stand accused of disseminating terrorist publications.
A boy from Merton, aged 17, was charged with the “collection of information”.
Only one suspect was named by police, as 19-year-old Ahmedeltigani Alsyed, from Hounslow.
They were being held in custody ahead of a court hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
Several teenagers from London are among more than 850 men and women who have travelled to join the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, including dozens known to have been killed in warzones.
