Five kid-friendly events happening in Dublin this weekend

It’s finally summer!

The kids are finally out of school and the weather is just perfect for a fun day out for the whole family.

We bring you five exciting kids friendly events happening in the capital this weekend.

Kid’s Carnival - Jervis Shopping Centre

Bring your kids along to this fun-filled carnival with great music and entertainment guaranteed all day long.

Enjoy virtual reality bowling and take a chance on the spin and win for some fantastic prizes.

The kid’s carnival will be taking place at the Jervis Shopping Centre on Saturday.

Just an Illusion - Arnotts

Kids will have the chance to explore a range of educational exhibits and interactive experiences at Explorium’s “Just an Illusion” event.

You can experience what it feels like in Virtual Reality with over 100 different virtual experiences or create your very own light show and discover how laser passes through objects.

Explorium’s ‘Just an Illusion’ is housed in the Arnotts Gallery Space on second level and will be open for two months.

Barretstown Big Picnic - Kildare

Have a lovely day in the sun this Sunday at the annual Barretstown Big Picnic.

The event will see a host of fun activities including cooking demos throughout the day from food blogger and author Sinead Delahunty, a ‘Skills and Drills’ session with Kildare GAA stars and a sandwich making challenge with Chef Redmond, Fossett’s Circus, canoeing, mini golf, pony rides, petting farm, animal movement classes, and many more.

Entry to the picnic is free of charge but families are encouraged to donate whatever they can.

But for those wishing to attend the circus, tickets are priced at €10 per adult and €5 per child and can be found here.

The Barretstown Big Picnic is held in Barretstown Castle, Co. Kildare from 11 am to 5 pm.

Playful Steps Family Disco - Raheny

If you’re the kind of family that spontaneously loves to break into a dance then this is just perfect for you.

The Playful Steps Family Disco will feature classic disco anthems and funky tunes plus favourites from children’s movies and shows.

There will also be bubbles, balloons, disco lights, story-telling, and arts and crafts.

The event is taking place on Saturday at Grange Woodbine Club, Raheny Road from 3 pm to 4.30 pm and is aimed at families with children under eight years.

Young Growers 2019 - Airfield Estate, Dundrum

Kids will have the chance to learn about the important role bees and insects play in nature and why it’s important to protect them by observing the world of bees.

They will also learn about how they make honey and will plant a bee-friendly flower to take home.

The event will take place on Sunday from 10 am to 12.30 pm.
