Five issues that QPR boss Steve McClaren must address before facing Bolton Wanderers next week

The international break is a horrible time for football fans around the country as they have to deal with two weeks without club football.

But as far as Queens Park Rangers are concerned, they couldn't wish for anything better.

2019 has been a shockingly bad year as far as their Championship form is concerned, with just one victory to their name since Boxing Day.

As it stands, there are eight points between QPR and the relegation zone, and with eight games remaining, it's crucial that Steve McClaren's side turn their form around in the remaining weeks of the season.

To do that there's plenty of work ahead, and here are just some of the items that need addressing if the club are to get themselves back on track.

How QPR could look next season following Middlesbrough and Leeds' interest in Luke Freeman

Solidifying the defence

Granted, this is easier said than done.

QPR have kept just two clean sheets in the Championship since the turn of the year - and as we all know, a shutout is the foundation to picking up positive results on a consistent basis.

Whether it's a change of formation, a change of personnel or simply drilling the defensive players to ensure that they know how to handle specific situations, boosting the performances of the QPR defence is fundamental to the club retaining their Championship status.

What has gone wrong at QPR and how the draw at Hull can be a turning a point to shift momentum

Getting Angel Rangel and Geoff Cameron fit

It's felt long a long road since we last saw the duo in action for QPR.

Three months is a huge chunk of any season, and we all know just how big an impact their absence has had on QPR's league form in 2019.

With Cameron returning against Hull City and Rangel set to return after the international break, it's crucial that the Hoops do everything that they can to get the pair back to full fitness as they're going to have a big role to play in getting QPR over the line.

Getting the best from Luke Freeman

He's arguably been QPR's best player this term, and as unhealthy as it is the Hoops are simply over reliant on the playmaker.

While that fact isn't exactly ideal, it's important to realise the truth behind and make sure that the club do everything that they can to get the best out of the midfielder.

If Freeman can hit top form in the remaining weeks of the season, then QPR stand a good chance of getting the results needed to pull away from danger.

The distance travelled by QPR, Brentford and Millwall players during the international break

Assisting Ebere Eze in finding his confidence

This season has been a real learning curve for the youngster.

Steeped in expectation at the start of the campaign, Eze has drowned somewhat in recent months with his performances lack the flair and confidence which was so apparent in the early parts of the campaign.

We saw brief sparks of magic in the second half against Hull City, and Steve McClaren will be hoping that two weeks of rest will allow the youngster to recapture his brilliant best in the closing weeks.

Helping Nahki Wells to find his form

Another player who has gone missing somewhat in recent weeks.

Wells hasn't scored in the Championship since Boxing Day last year - representing a real dry spell for a striker who is QPR's main source of goals.

It's absolutely crucial that Steve McClaren gets Nahki Wells on the scoresheet again, as without the striker's goals it's goig to be very difficult for QPR to pick up points between now and the end of the campaign.
