Five injured in 'knife attack' in German school

Five people have been injured in a suspected knife attack at a German school.

Police said they have arrested a suspect who was also injured during the incident at a school in the western German city of Wuppertal on Thursday.

The attack happened at the Wilhelm Dorpfeld high school in the city’s Elberfeld district.

The Bild newspaper, which did not name its sources, said students were attacked by a classmate, but this has not been confirmed.

German news agency dpa reported that police said there was no shooting in the incident but gave no further information.

Police said they deployed large numbers of officers to the scene.

Wuppertal is a city of some 350,000 people near Duesseldorf and Cologne.
