Five in hospital after NSW beach incident

Five people, one in critical condition, have been hospitalised after an incident at a beach on the NSW south coast.

NSW Ambulance was called to Surf Beach, south of Batemans Bay, at about 2pm on Sunday after a group of people are understood to have got into trouble in the water.

Paramedics arrived to find all five people back ashore.

One man, believed to be in his 40s, went into cardiac arrest and CPR was performed.

The man was taken to Batemans Bay Hospital in critical condition, with the other four people sent to Batemans Bay or Moruya Hospital.
