KOCHI: City police on Saturday arrested two persons with 2.59g of brown sugar from Brahmapuram.

The arrested persons were identified as Rameez Udheen, 23, and Inal Haq, 26, both residents of Assam. According to police, the accused used to peddle the drug among guest workers.

City police said in a statement that the seizure was made in a joint operation conducted by Infopark police and a special operation group as part of the ‘Drugs-free Kochi’ campaign. Police said a probe was on to find the source of the drug and whether more people were involved.

The arrested persons are Aslam, 20, of Thuruthy, Manikandan, 42, of Dindigul, Tamil Nadu and Muhammed, 19, of Palarivattom.
