Five Guys opening in July at East Midlands Designer Outlet shopping centre with more stores on way

Popular burger restaurant Five Guys is to open a new branch at East Midlands Designer Outlet village at the end of July - with more stores in the pipeline.

The American burger chain will be opening in the summer at the McArthurGlen outlet, just off junction 28 of the M1 for Mansfield.

An exact opening date for the summer has not yet been confirmed, but the outlet will be based in the food court, adjacent to Wagamama’s, when it is ready to start serving customers.

There is also a plan to reveal other stores at the centre soon, but any names are being kept under wraps at this stage.

David Jackson, centre manager, told Nottinghamshire Live: "The most important thing is how safety evolves in the next few months.

"We've extended our opening times as per government guidelines, extended the car park and looked at how we can make the experience for guests on busy days simpler.

"We've extended our outdoor capacity by 65 percent to enable people to spend some time outside with their families and enjoy brands like Wagamama, Pizza Express, 200 Degrees."

He said consumer confidence will improve as the summer months approach and as the vaccine continues to rollout.

The centre plans to reopen its food court in June for people to sit inside and restaurants but there will still be a big presence of outdoor seating.

"What we've tried to do is really look into what the local catchment wants in terms of food offerings and we felt Five Guys was a good option.

"We've got a few to follow which we think people will be proud of and pleased to see with us.

"What we want in the summer is for people to relax with us, have a good time and enjoy their shopping."

The designer outlet has just under 1,500 car parking spaces and 700 members of staff work there.

Its opening hours have been extended to 9am - 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-6pm Sunday.
