Five Guys A Week in Sunderland descends into chaos as contestants throw strop and storm out

New dating show Five Guys A Week was thrown into chaos while filming in Sunderland as contestants threw an almighty tantrum and stormed out, leaving viewers gripped.

"Better than Eastenders, "Pure drama," and "Car crash TV at its best" were just a few of the comments that came flooding as Channel 4 viewers couldn't believe what they were watching.

The premise of Five Guys A Week is that a single lady invites five gents she's never met before to date her over the course a week, with the big twist being that they all have to live under the same roof in her house and she has to give one of them their marching orders every morning until she's left with just one.

The show has developed quite a cult following since debuting last month and on Tuesday night it was the turn of Sunderland sales executive Nina, 33, to look for love.

The five guys who moved in with her, aiming to win her affections were financial adviser Mark, part-time model Scott, oil rig abseiler Joe, Marine Engineering student Carl and operations manager Dale.

Carl was the first to get the boot but then more quickly followed after a night out at The Palm in Sunderland ended in drama no-one saw coming when Nina kissed Scott.

As you can see in both videos, taken from the Five Guys A Week Twitter page, things escalated rapidly when, back at Nina's, Scott came clean about the kiss, leading to the Mark, Joe and Dale throwing a massive strop and storming out of the house as Nina lay in bed hearing them all shouting and openly slagging her off.

Hours later, with Scott staying put, and upset Mark after told him Nina only liked him for his muscles, the other three returned, but refused to backdown and then left again with Joe not even swallowing his pride after Nina told him she really liked him.

And viewers at home were both enthralled and disgusted in equal measure. One tweeted: "That was the WILDEST episode of a TV show i've ever seen. Corrie, Eastenders, Hollyoaks and Emmerdale... Eat. Your. Heart. Out," and another reacted: "Five guys a week is a right treat tonight. As if they just got up and f***ed off in the middle of the night."

Taking aim at the lads' behaviour, another viewer posted: "These guys are being so toxic on five guys a week . She's on a dating show and she kissed one of them and then they slate her and walk out. Toxic masculinity at its finest."

In the end, with just Scott left, Nina said she was looking forward to giving things a go with him but as the credits rolled, viewers were left hanging as to whether or not it worked out!

The good news is that Five Guys A Week has already confirmed it's coming back for a second series.
