Five exceptional students scored EIGHT higher level grade ones in 2019 Leaving Cert

An exceptional five students will learn this morning they scored eight higher level grade ones in their Leaving Certs.

The brainy bunch aced a result of over 90% in five different subjects at honours level.

A further 61 school leavers will take home report cards boasting seven grade ones and another 235 swept the board with six.

Today is D-Day for 55,000 students as colleges across Ireland open their doors to distribute results. President of the Teachers’ Union of Ireland Seamus Lahart said: “The great majority will find that their hard work and diligence has paid off.

“However, those who may be disappointed with their results should in no way lose hope.

“Learning and education is a lifelong pursuit and there have never been more avenues open to pursue a chosen course and career.” Fianna Fail’s James Browne insists the lead-up to results day can be a stressful period, in particular if a student already suffers with anxiety.

He said: “Tuesday will see many timelines and feeds on social media full of happy students and pictures of exam results.

“But students shouldn’t feel pressure to put their results online or feel the need to compete.”
