Everton’s squad now looks in good shape after a productive and successful transfer window.
New additions James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucouré already look to have transformed Carlo Ancelotti’s side, with four wins from four in the Premier League so far.
Ben Godfrey was also brought in from Norwich on deadline day while Robin Olsen also arrived and Moise Kean moved to PSG on loan.
The domestic transfer window remains open until October 16, though, so Everton might yet look to offload some players to EFL clubs.
Here we take a look at the players who could depart by the end of the week.
Matthew Pennington
Everton still hope to find a new club for Pennington, with the 26-year-old defender not in Ancelotti’s plans.
He spent last season on loan at Hull in the Championship, and has had previous spells with Ipswich, Leeds and Walsall.
Pennington is now, understandably, at the stage of his career where regular game time is the primary concern. Despite being at Everton since he was 11, he has only managed seven appearances for the club, and it’s clear that his future now lies elsewhere.
“I’m thinking I need a home in the summer, somewhere to put my roots down and crack on with my career,” Pennington told the Yorkshire Post in April. “I’ve been on loan quite a lot now so I’m looking for that place to settle down and really push on with my career.”
Beni Baningime
At 22, Baningime is another player who will be considering his options. He has not made a senior appearance for Everton since 2018, and is expected to go out on loan again after a brief spell at Wigan last year.
League One looks like the obvious destination for the midfielder, who will want to avoid another few months stuck in the Under-23s.
Jarrad Branthwaite
A defender with a bright future, Branthwaite was involved as Everton beat Salford in the Carabao Cup last month.
His night ended with torn ligaments in his ankle and a few weeks on the sidelines, but he is clearly a player with plenty of potential.
At just 18, though, he is not quite at full first-team level yet and could leave on loan to further his development.
Nathan Broadhead
Another young player available for loan, Broadhead will hope to impress should he join an EFL club in the next week.
The Wales Under-21 international is clearly talented, but at 22 he will need to start catching Ancelotti’s eye sooner rather than later if he’s to have a future at Everton.
Callum Connolly
Versatile defender Connolly is familiar with loans to EFL clubs, having played for Barnsley, Wigan, Ipswich, Bolton, Lincoln and Fleetwood since emerging from Everton’s youth academy in 2016.
Now 23, he will be aiming to kick on with his career, though another loan is a possibility before Friday’s deadline.
