INDORE: Indore district has been reporting on an average of two new cases of dengue for the last 13 days increasing the overall count to 37, showed record of district malaria office.
Of those 37 dengue cases, five were reported in the last 24 hours in the district. However, no new dengue was reported in the district.
District malaria officer Daulat Patel said, “Dengue has been spreading rapidly in August because of incessant rains and high temperature.”
The cases are reported from different areas in the district showing prevalence of the disease in different parts, said Patel. The new areas with cases of dengue are Dhiraj Nagar, Vallabh Nagar, Sardar Nagar, Nanda Nagar and Bhrampuri Nagar.
“The malaria team is consistently surveying, sampling suspects and areas and destroying mosquito larvae in all wards of the district to curb spread,” said Patel.
Patel said, “The one death reportedly of 25-year-old pregnant women in a private hospital was caused by sepsis and shock. So, it will not be counted in dengue deaths.”
Till now district hasn’t reported any death due to dengue, claimed Patel. The case file of the female showed that she was suffering from dengue at the time of death.
