Five days of snow expected to hit UK next week

There have been forecasts of plummeting temperatures hitting the UK later this month and it seems next week will be the start of the Artic blast.

The icy weather is likely to bring snow to the country, which could last up to five days reports The Sun.

While Scotland will see the first spells of the white stuff, possibly as soon as Wednesday Nov 17, further south temperatures will continue to drop too.

In the South West the Met Office has predicted colder conditions later in the month, from the end of next week. Fog and frost are likely overnight.

AccuWeather forecaster Tyler Ros told The Express: "The threat for snow between November 17 and 22 looks to be around normal for the time of the year, which is any accumulating snow is likely to occur in the higher elevations of northern England and Scotland.

"We do have to watch a cold snap that appears to move into Eastern Europe early next week.

"If this bleeds westward towards the UK, with the core of the cold remaining in Eastern Europe), then the temperatures will be near to slightly below normal during this stretch.

"This then would fire up some North Sea Sea Effect showers coming in from the east.

"If the hills are cold enough in northern England and in Scotland, these showers are more likely to be wintry."

Towards the end of November temperatures could drop as low as minus seven in Scotland and the south of England will likely see the mercury drop below zero as well.
