Here are five incidents which the force has asked for help with.
Man's face slashed on Paradise Street
The emergency services were called out to Liverpool ONE at around 6.30pm on Wednesday following reports of an incident.
A man, 20, was later taken to hospital with a deep cut to his face.
Support worker Harry Moran, 21, used his first aid skills to help the victim. Mr Moran, from Anfield, said that the victim appeared to have suffered a serious knife wound to his face, just below his eye.
Mr Moran used his hoodie to stem the flow of blood and spoke to the victim about Liverpool FC in an attempt to calm him down.
Mr Moran said: "I could see the lad had been badly hurt. The cut was very deep. You could see the blade had really cut into his face. Fortunately it had just missed his eye."
In a statement on Wednesday night Chief Inspector Col Rooney said: “The investigation is in the very early stages and we are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and speak to us.
“Liverpool city centre would have been very busy tonight with Christmas shoppers. I would ask anyone who saw or heard anything significant to get in touch so that we can take action to find the person or people responsible and bring them to justice.
"As part of our Operation Shepherd we have increased patrols in and around the city centre and I would ask anyone who has any concerns to speak to one of our officers.”
Yesterday ( Thursday) a spokesperson for the force said that the victim had now been released from hospital.
She said: "There have been no arrests and enquiries remain ongoing."
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111.
