Five charged after fireworks set off in Shawlands street

Police have charged five people after fireworks were set off in a Shawlands street.

Officers were called to Pollokshaws Road in the heart of Glasgow's south side in response to reports of fireworks being thrown last night.

Five males, including two boys, age 12 and 14, have been charged with two men, 17 and 19, due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today (Friday).

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Five people have been charged following reports of fireworks being thrown in the Pollokshaws Road area of Glasgow on Thursday 31 October 2019.

"Two boys, aged 12 and 14, were charged and a report will be sent to the Children's Reporter. A 17-year-old man will appear at court at a later date and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

"Two men, aged 17 and 19, were arrested and charged. They are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today."
