Five cars are stolen in night-time raids on homes

Five cars have been stolen in late-night raids on homes in Livingston.

Police are appealing for information regarding the thefts, which took place between Friday and Tuesday, saying they believe the incidents are linked.

In each case, the thieves have entered homes at night before stealing car keys.

Houses on Peveril Rise, Fells Rigg, Scott Court and Lochbank were targetted and police are now urging people to make sure their doors and windows are locked and valuables are kept out of sight.

The stolen vehicles have the following registration numbers: Black Hyundai Tucson: SL68WUT, Grey Ford Focus: SN68XXJ, Red Vauxhall Corsa: SA18NHN, Orange Ford Focus: PN12HRA and a Red Ford Fiesta: SN16XPG.

Detective sergeant Gillan Ross said: "We are making enquiries into several incidents, which we believe are linked.

"I would ask anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the aforementioned areas, who may know the whereabouts of the vehicles or knows who is responsible to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

"One of our key priorities is targeting acquisitive crime and to do this effectively we rely heavily on the assistance of members of the public.

"It is important that residents remember to secure their homes and vehicles and keep items of value out of sight."

Information can be passed to Police Scotland by calling 101, or given to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
