Five caravans and a Land Rover recovered in raids following spate of thefts

A day of action resulted in five caravans and a Land Rover being recovered by police following a spate of caravan thefts.

Police in Ormskirk and West Lancashire conducted the day of raids yesterday after recent thefts had been reported in the West Lancashire, Chorley and surrounding areas.

During the raids, officers seized five caravans believed to have been stolen, as well as a Land Rover and a tri axle trailer.

Lancashire Police said enquiries are ongoing but they are in the process of returning the goods to their rightful owners.

Posting up on Facebook yesterday, Ormskirk and Rural West Lancs Police said: "Morning Folks to follow up to our post about Caravan thefts – Yesterday South RTF conducted a day of action in relation to Caravan related thefts.

"During the operation the team have located and seized five stolen caravans, a stolen land rover discovery and a stolen tri axle trailer.

"We will now begin the process of returning them to their rightful owners. Enquiries are still ongoing.

"We will continue to tenaciously track, trace, and recover stolen property. #Ruralcrime #NoBorders".

A day earlier, the force had posted a warning on their Facebook page about caravans being targeted in the West Lancashire, Chorley and surrounding areas.

They warned owners to keep their property secure and update records of vin numbers/CRIS numbers and activate trackers following the spate of thefts.

Police also recovered a tri axle trailer, suspected to have been stolen (Ormskirk and Rural West Lancs Police)
