Five Bulgarian fans arrested after racist abuse and Nazi-style salutes at England match

Five Bulgarian football fans have been arrested after vile racist abuse was aimed at England players in Sofia on Monday night.

A number of players were subjected to racist chants including Aston Villa defender and Manchester City star .

Cops in the former Communist country have now identified five culprits and cuffed them.

During England's 6-0 win monkey chants could be heard at various stages throughout, while ITV cameras picked out some supporters performing Nazi-style salutes.

The Euro 2020 qualifier was stopped twice stopped twice during the first period.

England opted to complete the game despite the game being halted as part of UEFA 's three-step anti-racism protocol.

Governing body UEFA have taken action following the game.

The Bulgarian FA has been charged with 'racist behaviour' of their supporters which could result in a two-match ban and a fine of £70,000.

England were also levelled with two charges including disruption of a national anthem.
