Five booked for thrashing store manager in Gurugram, stealing Rs 2L

GURUGRAM: Police booked five persons on Sunday for allegedly beating up the manager of a Maruti Nexa store in Sushant Lok 1 on December 5 and stealing Rs 2 lakh from him.

The manager, Abhishek, had closed his store and was on his way home when a group of men stopped him near Tulip Chowk in Fazilpur village. They attacked him with a hammer and hit him head on the head till he lost consciousness, according to police.

The accused then allegedly snatched Rs 2 lakh and a mobile phone from Abhishek. Later, passers-by rescued Abhishek and took him to the Civil Hospital in Sector 10. They also informed the police about the matter.

Abhishek told TOI on Sunday that he could file a police complaint after a week of the attack. “As soon as I got discharged (from the hospital), the first thing I did was to identify under what jurisdiction the area falls and then immediately submitted the complaint,” he said.

Abhishek, according to police, received two blunt injuries on his head. An FIR in the case got registered at the Badshapur police station under sections 148 (rioting armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323(voluntarily causing hurt), 379-B (Intention to commit theft) of the IPC.

Two of the five accused seem to be known criminals, said police. "We are checking the nearby CCTV cameras to track down the men. The police are on alert. Two men appear to be known criminals, but we cannot yet confirm it," said the police official.
