Five arrested as €290,000 of cannabis seized in drug busts in Co Roscommon, Co Mayo and Co Sligo

Five people have been arrested after €290,000 worth of cannabis was seized during drug busts in the west of Ireland.

The arrests were made after four locations across Co Roscommon, Co Mayo and Co Sligo were raided on Friday.

One man, 41, was arrested after 86 cannabis plants worth €107,000 were discovered in Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon.

Two more men, aged 33 and 46, were arrested at a separate location in the same area after €54,000 worth of the drug was found.

A spokesman added: "In Charlestown, Co Mayo, 80 Cannabis Plants were seized, with a potential value of €64,000. A 26 year-old man was arrested at the scene.

 

"A fourth search in Clogherevagh, Co Sligo led Gardaí to the discovery of 80 Cannabis Plants with a potential value of €64,000. A 49 year-old man was arrested at the scene."

Gardai say all suspects remain in custody and that investigations are ongoing.

The searches involved Gardaí attached to Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Longford and Mayo Drugs units.

The Armed Support Unit supported officers during the operation targeting the sale and supply of Cannabis in the Roscommon and Leitrim region.
