Five areas of Nottinghamshire record new coronavirus cases in last 24 hours

Nine more cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in five parts of Nottinghamshire in the past 24 hours, according to the latest Government data.

As of 4pm on August 26, another 13 cases have been reported since the same time yesterday.

Three new infections were recorded in Nottingham - bringing its total up to 1,329 - and Newark and Sherwood, where the total is 448.

Across the rest of the county, there have now been 2,897 positive tests confirmed since the start of the pandemic.

UK-wide, 16 more people have died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test, bringing the death toll to 41,465.

The total number of cases has now risen to 328,846 after 1,048 more people tested positive.

This is the current breakdown of confirmed infections for each part of Nottinghamshire:

  • Ashfield - 600 (increase of one)

  • Bassetlaw - 650 (no change)

  • Broxtowe - 461 (increase of one)

  • Gedling - 403 (no change)

  • Mansfield - 368 (no change)

  • Newark and Sherwood - 448 (increase of three)

  • Nottingham 1,329 (increase of three)

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has pledged to meet with families who have lost loved ones during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice group said they had asked for meetings with Boris Johnson on a number of different occasions.

Speaking to Sky News, Mr Johnson said that he was not aware of any letters from the group, but said he would respond.

He added that he would "of course" meet with the bereaved.

Earlier this month, the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Coronavirus heard from bereaved families who said they felt they were being "swept under the carpet" by the Government.

Grieving family members said they had written to the Prime Minister asking to meet and share their experiences but were told that officials were unable to meet "due to the current pandemic".
