Fitzgibbon calls on Sharks to lift in milestone match against Knights

WANTING MORE: Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon wants his players to lift.

CRONULLA coach Craig Fitzgibbon says his side can't rely on a few key players and needs to put in a "team performance" if they are to celebrate Aiden Tolman's 300th game with a victory over Newcastle.

The third-placed Sharks beat the Dragons and Eels after losing to the Raiders in round one.

Halfback Nicho Hynes has fired for his new club while five-eighth Matt Moylan, hooker Blayke Brailey and fullback Will Kennedy have helped the Sharks emerge as one of the competition's best in attack this season.

But Fitzgibbon feels his side has been too reliant on the playmakers.

"We're still figuring out who we are. We've executed our plan pretty well so far, but I'd like to see more," he said.

"I want to see a team performance and I don't want to have to rely on the combination of four guys every time we play.

"We will need to improve on Friday."

Fitzgibbon said the Sharks would be out to honour veteran forward Aiden Tolman in his 300th NRL game.

"He's an admirable guy and a really popular player," he said.

"We're really excited to honour his milestone."

Newcastle have similar motivation with Tyson Frizell, who began his career at the Sharks, playing his 200th game.

"There is an honour in being part of someone's milestone. It's a game they will remember for a long time, so it's really important that you put in a performance that we can be proud of," Knights coach Adam O'Brien said.

"It's 200 tough games of football from Tyson and he does that week in, week out.

"If we couldn't have it here at home, it's fitting it's back at where he started his career."
