Fittingly, Adrian Peterson moves up rushing list against Vikings

Redskins running back Adrian Peterson finished with 76 rushing yards on Thursday night against the Vikings.

That put him at 13,701 for his career. He passed both Jerome Bettis and LaDainian Tomlinson on the night, moving to sixth on the league’s all-time rushing list.

Next up for Peterson is Curtis Martin and his 14,101 yards. Peterson will need 401 yards to pass him, certainly something that seems doable in the final eight games of the season.

It was fitting Peterson moved up the list against the franchise he was drafted by in 2007 and spent 10 seasons with. Peterson ranks first in rushing yards (11,747) and rushing touchdowns (97) in franchise history.

When Peterson did make history on Thursday night, he received a well-deserved standing ovation from the U.S. Bank Stadium crowd.
