A fit-out specialist who set up his own businesses after a brain tumour diagnosis caused him to reevaluate his life has won a string of new clients.
Paul Eatock officially launched Eatock Design and Build, based on Deansgate, on October 20.
The firm has now been appointed by 19 new clients, he said, including for online retailer I Saw it First, which will see the firm redesign its Northern Quarter head office.
The 43-year-old was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour after he lost sight in one eye. The brain tumour was eventually successfully removed in August 2019.
Mr Eatock said the operation was “a reality check”
“It made me think about what I want for my future, which is to be healthy and strong for my two daughters,” he said.
“It made me grateful for what I can do and set me up for taking the plunge to eventually launch Eatock Design and Build.”
He added: “I wanted to combine all my experience and expertise alongside my large network of contacts and manufacturing partners and bring that experience to the table.
“I enjoy what I do and have worked on some amazing projects, but it was time to launch on my own.”
Mr Eatock has 12 years’ experience in the sector and has worked on a number of large-scale projects in his career, including the headquarters of Car Finance 24/7 in Manchester and Euro Garages’ head office in Blackburn.
He also designed the Kensington home of Zubair Issa, Euro Garages’ billionaire co-founder.
He co-founded fit-out and furniture company Spatial Office Environments in 2014 before leaving to re-join Diamond Interiors in 2018.
Eatock Design and Build said it services the office and commercial sector, accommodating projects of all sizes across the UK and will design, fit, refurbish and build Covid-secure and environmentally friendly workspaces, retail fit outs and commercial property developments.
Mr Eatock said, while Manchester city centre is “not as busy”, firms are “embracing” a combination of working from the office and from home and looking at how to use space in a “smarter way”.
